I’ve been with Mr Creighton for over a year now and my overall opinion of him is that he is a wonderful trainer.. Patient, Kind, Funny and effective. When I met Anthony, I was 317lbs this last year with diet, and exercise: I’ve lost 70lbs and feel better about myself inside and out thanks to the program he wrote me.. Some days were awesome- some days I wasn’t in the best of moods: he works around it and communicates extremely well.. He’s the guy!! Thanks so much for everything you’ve done for me Anthony. I started with OG Muscle because I was skinny and fragile and wanted to be stronger and in less pain. I didn’t know where to start because everything I did hurt! I was worried I’d hurt myself and I couldn’t tell what a normal or a bad pain was. I didn’t start sooner because of my social anxiety and just didn’t really take my health seriously honestly until covid happened I thought “damn, I’m really unhealthy, this virus seems to be a rough one and I need to take care of myself better to be prepared for anything that comes my way.”
I’m one of those people who has tried to be “fit” on my own off and on for about 10 years. I tried getting really into running, tried weight training programs I found on the internet, I coached with a friend when I was in college but nothing really stuck.
So, I was 24, heavier than everbefore (190lbs), and my partner and I had just returned from a trip to see friends and shows in New York. I decided to give personal training another try. At this time I had been vegan for about three years, I reached out to Anthony because I had seen him in FaceBook groups talking about how you can be vegan and still be as strong as people eating a more traditional diet. I’ve dealt with a lot of people giving me flack about my diet, so I decided to go with a fellow vegan for a trainer. I met up with Anthony and I was excited, but not expecting anything huge, I already knew that if I wanted results I had to consistently putin the work, working out once a week with even the best trainer wouldn’t be enough on its own.
I’m not gonna lie – a huge motivating factor for me was actually putting down the money for training each month. I was essentially making a bet against myself every month, putting down money saying, “this is a total loss if you don’t make it to the gym when you’re not meeting with Anthony.”
Well, that bet worked. And Anthony’s training worked. I was getting stronger, my body was changing, and most importantly I had begun regularly setting aside time for myself – to work on something I wanted, something that, after a while, had really started making me feel good.
I’m now almost two years into training with Anthony and the results are massive! I’ve never been so strong and capable in my life. I love carving time out of my schedule to devote to my own personal growth. I still struggle with things like nutrition (I LOOOVE to eat whole bags of potato chips) but I’m down 20lbs, planning on cutting another 10lbs for a trip to Hawai’i, and much stronger than I ever have been. I love how capable and functional my body feels, and most importantly I love the routine (both mental and physical) of regularly working out. It’s helped me stay devoted to myself, my goals, and my happiness. I can’t recommended something more heartily than I recommend training with Anthony.
Anthony has changed my life. He’s not just another trainer. First of all, he walks the walk. His body is amazingly chiseled and he genuinely cares for his clients. He has an amazing way of connecting, understanding and motivating you. He creates outcomes more than you thought were possible. He knows when to push and when to pull back. He sees you. He hears you. No matter what stories you are telling yourself about how weak you feel or how overweight you are. He is so inspirational. He is flexible with scheduling and does all he can to embrace your goals and help you achieve them. Choosing Anthony was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I’ve lost 22lbs in just 2 months. His techniques are sound. He creates a program specific for you. This guy is the real deal.
I have trained with Anthony every single week for over a year. I am not a rich person by any means, so I assure you, if I was not getting significant and measurable results, I would have not stuck around this long. I actually improved my bone density, which at my age is unthinkable! I moved into the lowest Osteopenia range from the upper limit, lower than I was 10 years younger! Additionally, aside from being a skilled and careful trainer, he is one of the kindest, most generous, honest, gentle, funny, and pleasant human beings I have ever met in my life.
Since working with Anthony this past year I’ve gone from barely able to do one exercise to better health, greater stamina, losing weight, better mental health and lifting weights heavier than I ever imagined was possible. Plus I’ve made some great friends along the way. Anthony walked with me every step of the way, continually encouraging me to do just a bit more. I’ve had other trainers in the past but Anthony has that something special that puts him in a class of his own.
Many people say they find routines centering, stabilizing,
grounding, nourishing. For me, a routine has always been a
source of boredom: uninteresting, tedious, difficult, and
therefore unsustainable.
I’ve gotten to middle age without many good habits.
And yet, for the past year, I’ve been showing up at
Organically Grown Muscle 4-6 times a week for personal
training, weightlifting 101, boot camp, cardio weightlifting,
and the Zoom versions of the same.
I have not come to love routine or become more diligent. I
show up because Anthony makes strength training
enjoyable and satisfying. I show up eagerly – I don’t try to
talk myself out of it. I don’t have to drag myself there, even
though what we’re doing is far from easy.
Anthony drives me, and all of us, through the hard parts of
training. He does this repeatedly, through a combination of
cleverness, humor, kindness, information, inspiration,
positive feedback, constructive criticism, and just being the
kind of person you like to see every day.
By getting us through the hard work repeatedly, and by
designing programs that promote good form and lead to
functional gains, he makes us all get stronger. He points
out where we’ve made improvements, and we develop
confidence in our ability to get stronger.
I’ve gone from lurching step by step into each burpee while
whining about how my belly is in the way, to bouncing in and out of “renegade row burpees” with a 10lb dumbbell in each hand. From thinking people who could squat to the ground were maybe a different species than me, to making it there and back myself without a peep from my knees. From
thinking “no, I do not like hanging from this bar, it hurts and
is pointless” to hanging from it sort of cheerfully, while
repeatedly jackknifing my feet in front of me.
I doubt there many are other trainers out there who could
have accomplished this with someone like me.
